The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has refuted claims suggesting that its General Overseer, Enoch Adeboye, supports any political party or candidate.
In a statement issued on Tuesday through the church’s official public relations X account, RCCG emphasized that Pastor Adeboye has never endorsed any politician. Instead, he has consistently encouraged members to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate in elections by voting according to their conscience.
The church stressed that Adeboye’s teachings promote civic responsibility rather than partisan allegiance, noting that RCCG members belong to various political parties and should freely exercise their democratic rights.
RCCG also dismissed reports claiming that Adeboye cancelled a planned protest. According to the church, he merely conveyed a directive from the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria regarding changes to a three-day prayer programme. The adjustment involved holding the grand finale at a central venue and organizing a rally around the area.
Furthermore, the church rejected allegations that Adeboye has remained silent on national issues. It maintained that the cleric has publicly addressed matters such as insecurity, corruption, economic hardship, elections, governance, and the need for righteous leadership, often through prayer, moral guidance, and counsel rather than partisan activism.
RCCG urged the public to rely on its official communication channels for accurate information about the church and its General Overseer. It also called on media organizations, bloggers, and commentators to verify facts before publication, emphasizing the importance of truthful and responsible reporting.
“Verify before you believe. Fact-check before you publish. Truth matters,” the statement concluded.
