A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has dismissed allegations by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, against former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, as false and unfounded.
Wike had alleged that Amaechi collaborated with the Federal Government during his time as Minister to destabilize Rivers State. According to him, Amaechi’s actions led to a chaotic environment during his tenure as governor, including the assignment of 12 Commissioners of Police within three months and the sudden withdrawal of his security at 11:30 pm — a move he described as unprecedented.
Wike also claimed that while he remained in Rivers State to manage the situation, Amaechi stayed back in Abuja, detached from the unfolding crisis.
In a statement made available to DAILY POST, Chief Eze described Wike as a “serial betrayer and unrepentant liar,” accusing the FCT Minister of orchestrating violence and promoting insecurity for political gain.
“Wike represents the embodiment of a massively corrupt, dishonest, unstable, and inept leadership, which continues to plague the country,” Eze stated.
Defending Amaechi, he described him as a peaceful and principled politician who has never endorsed violence or tactics that threaten public order. Eze accused Wike of deploying non-state actors to foment crisis and instigate the destruction of communities during his time as governor.
“During the 2015 elections, Rivers State witnessed unimaginable bloodshed. People were slaughtered, families devastated, and communities left in ruins — all in the name of Wike’s political ambition,” he said.
Eze also cited Wike’s alleged misuse of then-Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mbu Joseph Mbu, to unleash chaos in the state, and referenced the controversial attempt to impeach Amaechi by only five members of the State House of Assembly — in violation of constitutional procedures.
Furthermore, Eze claimed that while Amaechi worked to secure the release of funds for state projects, Wike misappropriated those funds to pursue a “wasteful presidential ambition.”
