The 41-year-old Portugal captain achieved the landmark during his side’s Group K clash against Uzbekistan, netting twice to secure a comfortable victory for the European giants.
Ronaldo opened the scoring early in the match, rising to meet a João Cancelo cross for his ninth career World Cup goal. He then added a second, clinically finishing a rapid counter-attack, before celebrating with his signature “Siu!” in front of jubilant Portuguese fans.
The brace also saw Ronaldo surpass national legend Eusébio to become Portugal’s all-time leading scorer at the World Cup.
The milestone arrives just one day after rival Lionel Messi claimed the record as the tournament’s greatest goalscorer, keeping the iconic rivalry alive in the history books.

Speaking after the match, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner expressed satisfaction with the personal achievement but insisted the team’s progress remains his priority.
“I’m very happy. But for me, the most important thing is our work and the confidence we showed. The team performed really well and improved a lot,” Ronaldo said.
“Obviously, speaking personally, records are always nice, but my goal is always to help the national team achieve its objectives.”
Portugal will face Colombia in their final group-stage fixture, where Ronaldo will have another opportunity to add to his record.
