Prince Uchechukwu Samuel, popularly known as Samankwe, the Labour Party candidate for Mbaitoli State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, has pledged to deliver transformative, people-oriented representation if elected in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking to journalists at his ancestral home in Uru Ogwa, Mbaitoli Local Government Area, the international businessman, philanthropist and founder of the Samankwe Charity Foundation said his entry into politics stems from a deep commitment to philanthropy, patriotism and the urgent need to improve living standards at the grassroots.
“I have the patriotic desire to serve the good people of Mbaitoli State Constituency and Imo State at large,” he declared. “My mission is to enhance their welfare and ensure accelerated infrastructural development. I want government policies and programmes deliberately tailored to improve the lives of the people.”
Samuel identified critical challenges confronting the constituency: dilapidated rural roads, rundown public schools, inadequate healthcare facilities, erratic electricity supply, poorly equipped markets, widespread poverty, youth unemployment and limited skills-acquisition opportunities. He also flagged insecurity as a pressing threat requiring sustained and decisive intervention.
Drawing on years of philanthropic work and international exposure, he expressed confidence in his capacity to provide effective leadership. “I am convinced that I have the experience and exposure needed for the job. My passion is to be the voice of my people and pursue policies that will bring sustainable development to Mbaitoli and Imo State,” he said.
In a notable display of bipartisanship, the Labour Party aspirant described Governor Hope Uzodimma as one of his political role models despite their different party affiliations. He praised the governor’s strides in road construction and rehabilitation, youth digital skills empowerment, visionary leadership and the ongoing revolution in primary healthcare delivery.
“I have admired Governor Hope Uzodimma’s political courage and sagacity since my teenage years,” Samuel noted. “Although we are not members of the same political party, I appreciate many of his developmental strides.”
He, however, urged the state government to intensify attention on rural road rehabilitation and maintenance, agricultural development, rural infrastructure, security and the overall welfare of the people.
Appealing for the support of Mbaitoli residents, Samankwe promised quality, focused and result-oriented representation. “Heaven knows I will not disappoint my people. I have my integrity, reputation and future to protect. Mbaitoli and Imo State will certainly be proud of my performance. I may not be the loudest person, but I am focused, result-oriented and determined to deliver. Disappointment has never been part of my dictionary.”
As the 2027 polls draw nearer, Samuel’s candidacy presents a platform centred on grassroots development, effective legislative advocacy and a commitment to place the welfare of ordinary citizens at the heart of governance in Mbaitoli.
