Lagos — Music label Chocolate City has initiated legal action against Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, following an alleged assault on one of its staff members during the 2025 Flytime Festival in Lagos.
The label confirmed the lawsuit after court documents revealed that its Project Manager and Public Relations Officer filed a ₦50 million damages suit at the High Court of Lagos State. The incident reportedly occurred on December 22, 2025, backstage at the Eko Convention Centre, where the claimant was performing his duties for a Chocolate City artiste scheduled to perform at the event.
According to the statement of claim, the claimant was backstage with the artiste, personal security, and accredited event personnel when Odumodublvck arrived. The rapper allegedly approached the claimant, inquired whether he or his brother worked at Chocolate City, and without provocation, struck him in the face and pushed him aggressively while issuing threats.
The filing further alleges that despite attempts by security to intervene, Odumodublvck continued his aggressive behavior, making verbal threats to “end” the claimant. One of the rapper’s associates, identified as “Shagba,” is accused of pouring an alcoholic drink on the claimant at the rapper’s instruction. The claimant claims the defendant later attempted to resume the confrontation, threatening to “beat and fuck up” him by any means necessary.
The assault reportedly caused panic backstage, leading to the evacuation of the claimant and his team to a secure area. The claimant says he sustained physical injuries including recurrent headaches, facial and neck swelling, and general body pain, along with psychological trauma. He received treatment at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) and was advised to rest and suspend work engagements.
Court documents detail medical and ancillary expenses totaling over ₦4.5 million, in addition to lost income from missed professional engagements, including an overseas trip during the festive period. The claimant is seeking ₦50 million in damages for physical harm, emotional distress, medical costs, and lost opportunities.
In a statement, Chocolate City described the matter as serious and affirmed its commitment to supporting the affected employee. “The welfare and safety of our employees remain a top priority,” the label said, adding that it would pursue justice through the legal process.
As of the latest reports, Odumodublvck has not publicly responded to the allegations. The claims are yet to be tested in court.
