The Court of Appeal, Owerri, has been thrown into mourning following the death of Oluwaseyi Abosede Akanu, the Head of Litigation.
Oluwaseyi passed away on the morning of Wednesday, 8 January 2025, after battling a mysterious illness that reportedly began four months after she assumed the role of Head of Litigation at the Court of Appeal.
Staff members have expressed shock and deep concern over her untimely demise. Many have drawn attention to the eerie similarity between her passing and that of her predecessor, Mr. Ejike Nwanna, who also died under strange circumstances.
In accordance with Muslim customs and tradition, Oluwaseyi was laid to rest yesterday.
She will be fondly remembered by lawyers and colleagues as a diligent, approachable, and kind-hearted professional who treated everyone she encountered with respect and regard. Her legacy of excellence and warmth leaves an indelible mark on those who knew her.
