Nigerian business moguls Aliko Dangote and Abdul Samad Rabiu have secured spots among Africa’s wealthiest individuals in the latest Bloomberg Billionaires Index, as reported by Daily Trust.
According to the ranking, which tracks global wealth movements in real time, Dangote remains Africa’s richest man with an estimated net worth of $34.9 billion. Rabiu rose to become the continent’s third-richest billionaire with a fortune valued at $18.5 billion.
South African businessman Johann Rupert ranked second in Africa with a net worth of $18.9 billion.
On the global scale, Dangote was placed 67th among the world’s richest people, while Rupert and Rabiu ranked 144th and 152nd respectively.
Dangote, who leads the Dangote Group, has built his fortune through major investments in cement, sugar, flour production and petroleum refining. His wealth reportedly increased by about $4.38 billion in 2026, further strengthening his dominance as Africa’s wealthiest individual.
Rabiu, chairman of BUA Group, has also expanded significantly across cement manufacturing, sugar refining, food processing and other industrial ventures. Bloomberg data showed that his wealth grew by approximately $8.47 billion this year, rising from about $15.9 billion to $18.5 billion within a few months.
The report highlighted Rabiu as one of Africa’s best-performing billionaires in 2026, driven largely by the rapid growth of BUA Group’s cement and manufacturing businesses.
Bloomberg’s latest ranking also revealed that no other Nigerian billionaire made the global top 500 richest individuals list. Prominent Nigerian businessmen such as Mike Adenuga and Femi Otedola were absent from the current ranking.
Globally, Elon Musk topped the Bloomberg Billionaires Index with a fortune of $673 billion, ahead of tech and investment giants including Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg and Bernard Arnault.
