Former Governor of Imo State Chief Achike Udenwa has declared that he will no longer seek any elective political position in the state.
Udenwa made this known while hosting members of his political structure known as Redemption in Owerri. He said the decision was taken to allow younger politicians the opportunity to contest for elective offices and contribute actively to the future of the state.
The former governor however assured members of the group that he would remain involved in politics in a supportive and advisory capacity. He said he would continue to play a fatherly role by guiding and mentoring younger politicians within the structure to help them achieve their political aspirations.
Udenwa expressed gratitude to members of the Redemption group and others who commended his achievements while in office. He attributed the successes recorded during his administration to teamwork and collective commitment rather than personal effort.
According to him the strength of his administration came from shared principles and participatory governance which he said reflected the true meaning of the Redemption movement.
He urged members of the group to remain focused and purposeful as many of them still have long political careers ahead. Udenwa encouraged them to sustain the Redemption structure and expand its influence across the state.
The former governor recalled that the group started as an underdog but has grown into a strong political force in Imo State. He said he was proud of its growth and expressed confidence that it would continue to play a major role in shaping the political future of the state.
