The Independent National Electoral Commission has alerted Nigerians to a fake website falsely announcing that online voter registration is currently open nationwide.
In a public notice issued on Saturday, INEC identified the site pvc-inecnigeria-org.blogspot.com as having no link to the commission. The platform claims a “Final Phase of Nationwide Online Voter Card Registration” is running from September 28 to October 27, 2026, and offers services including updates to voter details, transfers between polling units and replacement of damaged or lost Permanent Voter Cards, all described as free.
INEC stated clearly that the actual voter registration exercise ended on 26 July 2026. Any suggestion that a new nationwide online registration drive is underway through the website is false.
The commission urged the public not to click the link or submit personal information, warning that doing so could expose sensitive data to harvesting or misuse. It advised Nigerians to remain vigilant and to confirm all electoral information only through INEC’s official communication channels.
The notice was published on the commission’s X account.
