Another misfortune has struck Nigeria’s film industry, Nollywood, as veteran actor Columbus Irosanga has been confirmed dead.
His passing was made public by fellow actress Hilda Dokubo via Instagram on Thursday.
She wrote, “Are there not enough angels in heaven that the few among us are being called home so soon? This loss weighs heavily on Uniport, Rivers State, and Nollywood.
“Our dear Uncle Coli @colu_mbusirisoanga has departed to be with the Lord. Ikoli eh dein na mu.”
Irosanga, originally from Okrika in Rivers State, was a seasoned actor and television figure, widely recognized for his portrayal of a native doctor.
In addition to his acting career, he served as a senior lecturer at the Department of Theatre Arts, University of Port Harcourt.
His passing occurred just a day after the demise of young actress Pat Ugwu, who died at 35 on Wednesday.
The news of Pat’s death was shared by her colleague, Emeka Okoye, in an Instagram post on Wednesday, accompanied by a funeral announcement detailing her burial arrangements.
Okoye wrote, “Rest in peace, sis. Pat Ugwu. @patpat_ugwu, so we won’t get to work together again? Death, why? God, please. Rest in peace, PAT. May your soul find rest in the Lord’s embrace.”
He continued, “God, please watch over all my colleagues, especially those dear to me. This wave of untimely deaths is unsettling. I speak life over everyone close to me in this 2025, by the precious blood of Jesus. Amen.”
