Several prominent political figures on Sunday joined a private meeting in Abuja involving former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, and National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Seriake Dickson.
Among those present were the 2023 APC governorship candidate in Kano, Nasiru Gawuna; former Adamawa governorship candidate, Aishatu Binani; ex-Zamfara Central senator, Kabir Marafa; and the current senator representing Anambra Central, Victor Umeh.
The meeting took place at Dickson’s residence in Guzape and is widely seen as part of ongoing efforts by opposition leaders to reposition themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Earlier, Obi and Kwankwaso arrived together around 5:18 p.m., drawing enthusiastic supporters affiliated with the Obi-Kwankwaso Movement, who chanted “O-K is okay” as the duo entered the venue.
Kwankwaso appeared in a white babaringa paired with his trademark red-and-white Kwankwasiyya cap, while Obi wore a black kaftan with a matching cap.
This development follows comments by Buba Galadima, Secretary of the NNPP Board of Trustees, who revealed that two key political figures are set to launch a new political platform on Monday—further fueling speculation about a possible opposition coalition.
