The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has cited a personal grievance as one of the reasons he cannot reconcile with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Speaking at a media parley in Abuja on Wednesday, Wike accused Fubara of interfering in his family affairs by removing a chief and appointing another in his place.
“Sometimes, when people talk about peace, they don’t consider everything. You don’t just sit outside and talk,” Wike said. “Imagine this—me, a former governor and now Minister of the FCT—yet the governor had the audacity, simply because he controls funds from the federation account and has more Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), to enter my family, remove a chief, and install someone else.”
His comments come amid a deepening political crisis in Rivers State, where he and Governor Fubara remain at the center of a fierce power struggle.
