The Rivers State Government has expressed shock over President Bola Tinubu’s decision to suspend Governor Sim Fubara while leaving out the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, despite his alleged role in the state’s political crisis.
In a statement issued by the Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Warisenibo Joe Johnson, the government described Wike as the key figure in the turmoil that has engulfed the state.
Reacting to Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers and the six-month suspension of Fubara, Johnson emphasized the governor’s commitment to upholding constitutional order, maintaining peace, and ensuring good governance despite the ongoing political challenges.
He highlighted Fubara’s dedication to protecting lives and property while driving the state’s progress.
“It is shocking that Mr. President sacked the governor while leaving his minister, who is the principal actor in this crisis. However, we remain a resilient people and will approach this situation with wisdom, patience, and unwavering faith in the democratic process,” Johnson stated.
