The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, alongside members of the party’s National Executive Committee, visited the Senate on Tuesday to witness the defection of three senators from Kebbi State.
Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, who presided over the plenary, formally welcomed the APC leadership to the chamber before announcing the defections.
Senator Adamu Aliero (Kebbi Central), Senator Yahaya Abdullahi (Kebbi North), and Senator Garba Maidoki (Kebbi South) officially joined the APC, citing internal crises within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the reason for their move.
Senator Abdullahi, a former Senate Leader in the 9th Assembly, and the other defectors expressed their confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, stating that the administration was making progress despite ongoing security challenges in the country.
Their defections were confirmed through formal letters read on the floor of the Senate.
