The lawmaker representing Eket/Onna/Esit-Eket/Ibeno Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, has thrown his weight behind Governor Umo Eno’s recent endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Uyo, Etteh, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), hailed Governor Eno’s endorsement as a “courageous and visionary decision” that underscores a strong commitment to peace, unity, and sustainable development in Akwa Ibom State.
Governor Eno’s open support for President Tinubu and Senate President Godswill Akpabio has sparked widespread speculation about a possible defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Responding to the development, Etteh clarified that the governor’s move was a strategic decision to foster collaboration with the central government, regardless of party affiliations. He commended Eno for prioritizing the state’s interests above partisan politics.
