A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ayekooto Akindele, has mocked former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, claiming that no Nigerian governor, including Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, will support his presidential bid in 2027.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Akindele alleged that Adeleke no longer answers Atiku’s calls during the day, suggesting a loss of influence within the opposition ranks.
The APC chieftain also took aim at former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, asserting that neither he nor Atiku can stop President Bola Tinubu from securing a second term in office.
Akindele’s comments follow reports of a political alliance between President Tinubu and several governors of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which is believed to be at the center of the internal crisis currently rocking the party.
Notably, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, recently stated that Tinubu would remain in office until 2031, citing strong public support for the president. His remarks came shortly after the PDP Governors’ Forum distanced itself from Atiku’s proposed coalition ahead of the 2027 elections.
“There is no Nigerian governor who has declared support for Atiku in 2027,” Akindele posted. “Even Adeleke no longer picks Atiku’s calls during the day.”
Taking a swipe at PDP’s internal divisions, he added, “I want to see Atiku’s face when Fintiri eventually joins the APC. One million Atikus and El-Rufais cannot stop the South and Tinubu from completing eight years in power.
“When it comes to politics, don’t challenge the Jagaban. No matter how many chicks are around, they always follow the hen.”
