Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has condemned the recent massacre in Bokkos, Plateau State, where entire families were brutally killed in a fresh wave of violence.
In a statement on X, Obi expressed grief over the tragic loss of innocent lives, including children and pregnant women, as five communities—Mangor, Tamiso, Daffo, Manguna, Hurti, and Tadai—were left in mourning.
He described the attack as yet another grim reminder of Nigeria’s worsening insecurity, questioning how long citizens must endure rampant killings, kidnappings, and other violent crimes in a country not officially at war.
“How long will these killings, kidnappings, maiming, and criminality continue?” Obi asked, urging the government to take decisive action to end the bloodshed.
He lamented the normalization of mass burials and the fear that now grips communities nationwide. Citing similar attacks in Jato-Aka (Benue), Eha-Amufu (Enugu), Ufuma (Anambra), and Aba Oyinbo (Ondo), he emphasized that no Nigerian should live in fear or be deprived of their right to livelihood due to insecurity.
Obi called for an urgent government intervention to not only halt the killings but also bring those responsible to justice.
“We must end this grief and terror; this is becoming extremely unacceptable,” he stated.
Offering his condolences to the people of Bokkos and other affected communities, Obi reaffirmed his vision for a safer Nigeria.
“A New Nigeria is Possible,” he declared, urging authorities to act swiftly to protect lives and restore peace.
As Nigeria mourns yet another senseless attack, the demand for concrete security measures grows louder, with citizens calling for immediate government action.
