The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called for the arrest of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Women Leader in the state, Hajiya Rabi Madawaki, over alleged inciting remarks directed at opposition supporters ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement released on Monday, APC Publicity Secretary Malam Yusuf Idris accused Madawaki of issuing violent threats during a recent political gathering in Gusau, reportedly attended by the state governor’s wife, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda.
“Elections are meant to be free, fair, and non-violent in any civilized society,” the statement read. “Under a democratic system like the one Nigeria is striving to uphold, candidates should campaign by engaging voters with promises—some fulfilled, others not.”
The APC alleged that rather than promoting constructive dialogue, Madawaki resorted to threats and intimidation as a means of soliciting support for Governor Dauda Lawal.
“As the 2027 elections draw near, Hajiya Rabi Madawaki, in the presence of the governor’s wife, adopted a crude and violent tone to rally support for the governor,” Idris stated.
He further claimed that Madawaki, speaking in Hausa, threatened to attack those who refused to vote for Governor Lawal, allegedly saying, “Anyone who doesn’t vote for Dauda, we will maim and beat him” — a remark she is said to have repeated multiple times.
The APC condemned the statement as “uncultured and dangerous,” warning that such rhetoric could incite violence and erode democratic values.
“This is coming from someone who holds no official position in government. If she can make such threats publicly, what else might the governor and his allies be planning behind closed doors?” the party questioned.
Calling on security agencies to act swiftly, the APC urged the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) to arrest Madawaki, insisting that she is not protected by any form of legal immunity.
The party also criticized the PDP for allegedly fostering a hostile political environment, contrary to the inclusive approach being championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Nigerians are striving to rid politics of threats and intimidation. President Tinubu has been working hard to promote unity and draw more people into the APC fold ahead of the 2027 elections,” the statement concluded.
