A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communication team in Ghana’s Ashanti Region, Hon. Rashid Salifu, has launched a blistering attack on former Ambassador to Egypt and Saudi Arabia, Alhaji Said Sinare.
Speaking on Rome Radio, Salifu accused Sinare—an influential figure within the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC)—of betraying both his personal integrity and the interests of Ghana’s Zongo communities in blind loyalty to former President John Dramani Mahama.
According to Salifu, Sinare’s recent frustration over his exclusion from ambassadorial appointments—allegedly being replaced by his cousin, actress Kalsoume Sinare—reflects his waning influence within the NDC and has sparked outrage in some political circles.
Describing Sinare as a “disgraced political puppet,” Salifu claimed the former diplomat abandoned his principles in pursuit of political favors that ultimately never materialized.
“Sinare should bury his head in shame,” Salifu stated. “His recent attacks on Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia are nothing more than a desperate attempt to win back favour from the NDC leadership, especially Mr. Mahama.”
According to Salifu, Sinare’s role in the 2024 elections included inciting division within the Muslim community and launching public criticisms against Bawumia. However, Salifu believes these actions have backfired.
“He called Bawumia names, created disunity among Muslims, and promoted Mahama as the only hope for the Zongos. But what does he have to show for it now? Nothing but rejection, humiliation, and political irrelevance,” he said.
The NPP spokesperson likened Sinare’s experience to being used and discarded, stating, “You danced, you insulted, you screamed for them. But when it came time for rewards, they cast you aside. That’s the price of blind loyalty.”
Responding to Sinare’s recent criticism of Bawumia’s economic commentary, Salifu dismissed the former envoy’s remarks as lacking moral weight. He further labeled Sinare a “political liability,” urging him to reflect on the consequences of his political choices.
“You betrayed your community and your faith for relevance. Now, the very people you fought for have abandoned you. You’re not a political martyr—you’re a cautionary tale,” Salifu said.
He concluded with a warning to Zongo politicians: “It is better to stand with dignity in defeat than to sell your soul for a victory that forgets you.”
